A World First In The Amazon
On April 1st, 2009, Charles Montier, Danny Daniels and Rupert Williams completed a historic first descent of the Potaro River from source to mouth.
This exciting yet treacherous journey took an intense 35 days of trekking, paddling and hauling the boat around 9 major waterfalls and through 17 sections of rapids.
Due to the remoteness of the Potaro River's mouth, the team then paddled a further 200 km down the Essequibo River to reach the port of Bartica.
"It's the first time ever in the history of Guyana that somebody has canoed the entire Potaro River. I would like to congratulate Charles and his two guides."
Hon. Manniram Prashad, Minister of Tourism, Industry & Commerce
